Afternoon!

I have been struggling for 6 days with a pain in the neck! It is at the top of my spine and the pain goes up to the top of my skull! The pain starts off mild in the mornings but after a few hours I feel the need to put my head on something to relieve the pressure... Its awful. This morning it is still there but now I have muscle pain across my left shoulder blade that makes it hurt to breathe, not to mention carry anything! 4 lots of co codamol yesterday plus pregabalin left me groggy and in pain! This is horrible!!

I am assuming that its fibro pain as its muscular, am I right to?

Going to put my barley cushion in the microwave and see if that'll help with the pain, plus co codamol and pregabalin!

Hope your day is pain free.

Dear Louise

Please dont assume anything regarding the neck area with RA, go and get it checked out with GP or rheumy. It may be muscular, but RA can cause changes in the cervical spine that need looking at seriously (x-rays, scans etc).

I have had severe RA for nearly 40 years and had two cervical spine fusions and just about to have another. Have had nerve blocks under CT scanning into the neck today. They can do lots to help neck pain so do ask, it's important.

In the meatime hot wheat bags between the shoulder blades and lying down to take the weight off the neck helps, plus all the pain relief you can tolerate!

Good luck Louise and let us now how you get on.

Take care,
Lizx

Thanks Liz,

I didn't realise it could be that bad. My heart goes out to you.

I am seeing GP on Monday so I will mention it then plus I have rheumy nurse appointment the 5th Mar.

I hope everything is better with your nerve block and good luck with the infusion. Fingers crossed for you!
